"International Editions": Can you sell them?

January 5, 2023

You'll see this often (especially if you source books from sites other than Amazon): You'll see a book described as an "international edition." Can you sell these?

You can, but only on the Amazon page for that specific (international) edition - not on the page for the "regular" edition.

Chances are, you're looking at the page for "regular" edition, then scan a 3rd party site (not Amazon) and find a listing for a cheap "international edition."

Basically, that's probably a shady seller trying sell an international edition as a "regular" edition.

This will get you in trouble with your customer and Amazon, so you want to avoid this.

How to spot international editions

These are the top "red flags" indicated a book is an international edition

  1. Described as an "international edition" (obviously)
  2. Described as a "global edition."
  3. Described as a "world edition."
  4. "Printed in ______ (some foreign country like India)"
  5. Ships from India, China, or another far east country.

To recap

You can sell them, but only if there is a product page specifically for the International Edition. You cannot list an International Edition on the product page for any other book. Make sense?
